011 [Audio | Closed Action]

I got too old for Santa when I was nine...'cept for the year I was twelve. I asked for a red bicycle. Anyway, haven't written a letter to Saint Nick since then but here in the City...I figger...why not?

No reason for me to put it on the network though.

[She's not surprised to find him in her room. She'd given him blanket permission just the day before so he'd have a place to lock himself away if he wanted to let his other self tinker in his room. She is surprised to find the Doctor asleep on his stomach, sprawled diagonally across her bed. The number of times she's caught him asleep can be counted on one hand and she knows he had to be exhausted to pass out here. Instead of waking him, she tiptoes across the room and curls up in a corner of the bed, her back against the headboard then slips a piece of paper and pen out of the nightstand next to her. She uses the book he was reading from last night as desk to start the letter to Santa that she's compelled to write.]

Dear Santa

[It's a formality for the simple sake of appearances and curses. She knows Santa can't deliver what she wants anymore then he delivered the red bicycle she loved so much]

My list this year is short.

*Real snow on Christmas Day. It doesn't happen as often to me and the Doctor as you think it might.

*I just want to know that Mum, Pete, Tony and Mickey are all right. It's okay that I won't see them again. I made that choice long time ago. Might be nice if you let them know I'm okay and I'm with the Doctor.

*~~Sex with~~ The Doctor. All of him. We're sort of this awkward stage of things, all wanting and no resolve. I want past that. I've waited a long time for it and done a lot of things to get here.

Awfully thoughtful of you. Might have to get back at you with cold hands. [She reaches over and puts her hand against the curve of his neck. Her hands aren't cold right now but she's demonstrating for future warning.]

[He scrunches his neck and shoulder a little in preparation for what he thinks is going to be a very cold hand, and then when it isn't, relaxes back to the way he was.] Well I think I can take that. [He uses the hand he's not propped up on to reach up and hold her wrist where it is. A moment later he gets a look and moves her arm to kiss the underside of her wrist, then puts it back and lets go.] Can you?

[Now there's a response to make you feel good about yourself. He's speaking a little lower. They are lying down right next to one another, after all.] That's good. Worrying over keeping track of you takes a fair bit of cognitive processing - distracting for other projects.

[He has to consider that for a moment, because he's actually distracted at the moment and also because it wasn't what he was expecting her to reply with.] You know what, ignore the inevitable betrayal. Let's make it evitable. You can just be distracting. Worry happens on my side, but the distracting is the thing you have the personal hold over.

[Oh that distracting grin she does, the one with the tip of her tongue and an almost evil sparkle in her eyes, it's happening now.] Depends on what's evitable, Doctor. Personal hold on distractin'...I think I'm likin' my part of the plan better.

[And then she moves the slightest bit closer, voice dipping a little in volume.] Don't think it's goin' to work on Donna or the other you so I'm only goin' to end up distractin' you.

When she finishes speaking, his eyes come up to meet hers from where they'd been noting their new positions proximal to one another.] Oh yeah? [Ooh, that was a little squeaky. He lowers it to their lower-quiet tone.] I think I might actually be okay with that.

Since when have you not? Plans that work the way I plan them to are the worst sort of plans anyway. [She totally knows what she's doing and she's enjoying it and he's enjoying what she's doing on a slightly more oblivious, less aware level, but either way, good things are happening.] I like my plans kinky.

[Right now he's about as capable of running away from her as he is likely to be bored, which is to say really not very capable or much. He doesn't, however, really catch the worry either. Just the flirting. After she moves he looks at her for another couple of moments, and then the hand that isn't propping his head up sort of gesture-points vaguely at her.]

That. Is that a hint? That tilting thing? That means I'm supposed to do things, doesn't it?
