012 [Action Closed Forward dated to 12-25]
[A couple of weeks ago, Rose sent out invitations inviting people to Christmas at the flat she shares with the Doctors. Since then, she's been running around like a headless chicken for many reasons, the party only being one.

The flat is a large one on the top floor with high ceilings and good views. It's a bit sparsely furnished with the main feature being a hammock bed hanging in one corner in front of a window. There's a television, some sort of funky looking sofa, one of those large over sized chairs that two skinny people can sit in and end tables scattered near the seating. There's also a Christmas tree that probably looks like Christmas threw up pink and TARDIS blue on it.

The Doctor (with the hair) is in the kitchen cooking while Rose runs back and forth between the kitchen and the living area to talk with people. Come in, have a drink and mingle. The actual dinner is going to be on the rooftop.]

[ooc: I thought I'd put this up early so people could play with it. There will be a 'during dinner' header below this. Feel free to thread jack, take some liberties with what's going on and just have fun. There's no time limit on this and backtagging is encouraged and loved. If Rose sent you an invitation or if it's been discussed via plurk, ic or any other means that your character was attending, have at it.]

Might see if the Doctor can cook it up so we can all have some. Definitely think they're edible.

[Rose leans over the fish, head tilted, looking at it curiously.] It's huge.

I seem to remember something about steaks made out of them... [Not that she's ever had one. Not a wealthy family, not near the sea.]

Yup. Winging it up across the city was barely easier than carrying Amy... probably a grip thing. My bite strength's not terribly high.

[He knew she was up here and wanted to know what was happening because he's the Doctor and he also just wanted to say hi, but he's caught the last bit of this conversation on his way over.]

You want this cooked up? With supper? It's a beautiful fish, by the way, wonderful catch, whatever fish it is. [At Rose.] Am I supposed to do anything with this fish or...

[Rose looks over at the Doctor with a smile.] Might be nice have a bit of fresh fish and give Janine a chance to have it cooked. [There's a bit of nose wrinkling. Honestly she doesn't want to admit that while she isn't looking forward to cleaning the fish, she wants the Doctor to do it.] Can you sonic clean it?

[That ought to be less messy, right?]
[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com on December 29th, 2011 10:48 pm (UTC)
[He's not particularly in the mood to clean a fish that looks like it's bigger than one of his own legs either.]

It could. I can scan it, but the sonic doesn't really work on biologicals. Might be able to trick it a little, considering it's not living, though that hasn't worked with wooden things yet. [He considers it for a few more moments because big.] See what I can do with it though.

[Janine surveys them.] Hello to you too, other-Doctor. [If she talks to him more often she's going to need a nickname....]

You really don't need to do that. I can open it up myself and pull the intestines out. Can't really get the bones and it'll be messy, but I could hop to another roof.

[She'd been very squeamish about it the first time she killed and ate fish, but when you have to do it several times a day...]

[Janine could always go with (with the ears) and (with the hair) or she could number them the way the earlier regeneration is fond of doing. Rose refuses to number them and just says Doctor or says Him with an obvious verbal capital on Him. Really it's all very ridiculous and comical. Rose ponders this, looking from Janine to the fish to the Doctor.]

S'up to the chef.

[In this case that would be the Doctor.]

Cleanin' it first on another roof might be good though.

['Other-Doctor'? He'll have you know he was here first. ...in a manner of speaking. For his part, there's really just copious use of 'me', 'him', and 'us', depending on how much he feels like being the same person at the time. Also one day he'll learn to say hello in the right order, but to make up for it she gets a big smile?]

Hello, sorry. Bit scatterbrained at the moment. I was mostly working out timetables for the moment, but the cooking part wouldn't be difficult to do at all, if you like. You want to get the insides and I can do the bones? Be a bit easier to eat anyhow, not having to worry about them. I hate those little fish bones; get stuck all in your throat and hurt for days. Though I guess these aren't really that little. Comparatively speaking.

My throat's a little bigger than yours, but if something lodges in my throat pouch it's going to give me a hard time. [She can't exactly stick a hand into her beak or throat to fish anything out.]

[Janine's beak plunges again to pick the fish back up without apparent effort. It drips saltwater infused with fish oils.]

You have a neighbor you don't like?
[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2011 04:38 am (UTC)
I have a lot of neighbours I don't know... Just, wherever you think it'll make the least mess, I suppose.

[The fish's pointed sword-bill hangs on one side of her beak, its tailfin on the other. Big fish. Janine turns ponderously towards the roof edge.]

Might take a few. You'll hear me when I come back.
