001 [Video | Action]

[The young, blonde woman wearing the purple jacket ends up on the carousel instead of the fountain. She weaves her way through the animals, pausing to pick up the device on the ground. She fiddles with it, manages to get it to broadcast video and peers down at it.]

Well this is different, innit? Captain Mamgambo? I think we've had a bit of a glitch. [She takes a short breath, allowing herself for a moment to hope for something that makes her ache.]

Doctor? Couldn't get lucky enough to have you listening in, could I?

Different, oh yes, very different, though of course it's all relative-- that aside, I did wonder if... well, I did wonder. And now I know, and here you are, and I'm afraid I can't quite tell if he's listening but I certainly am, and oh! I wonder if I will come to get you now. Should I come to get you?

[That definitely adds to the confusion. Particularly because she speaks like she is familiar with Rose on some level. She follows the whirlwind rate fairly well. The Doctor always did speak quickly, jumping from point to point.]

Oh, of course, better than anyone. As to where, I can't say I know yet, though it won't be very far-- someone else was meant to tell you this later, but I'll save them the trouble, I suppose. You are in a pocket dimension known as the City, and you won't be leaving here for some time now. I've not explained it quite so well as the other might've, but you'll understand in time. You always were a clever girl, the smiley one.

[She stops, brain whirling frantically. It's not her explanation that puzzles her. Rose understands pocket dimensions in as much as a human ever really can. Not how they work, or how they're created but that they can and do exist. What has her stunned, is that this woman knows her and that she knows the Doctor.]

Someone else? Have we met? [Well if she knows the Doctor, this woman could be from her future.] Do I meet you later?

Perhaps. [She smiles mysteriously.] But it's the past, not the future, that you really mean to ask about. We have met, Rose Tyler. Only last time, I suppose I looked a little less... [She pauses.]

[Brain is tick, ticking away. Someone who knows the Doctor better than anyone. Someone who talks like him. Someone that knows about dimensions and wasn't human the last time she met her. Someone that's a her. But that's not possible, is it?]

[That elicits a delighted grin.] Clever girl with the smiles indeed, I knew you would get it! I'm the-- oh, do forgive me if I can't ever remember the word, I'm called so many things these days. But you know, don't you. I'm... his.

We would meet again, wouldn't we... yes, that all lines up nicely. [And now she waves in greeting-- a bit belated.] Hello.

Doctor?

[It's said with that mixture of awe and disbelief that she often has when talking about him. There's also a tremor of hope. This hasn't worked out the way it was supposed to but if he's here then maybe they'll fix it.]

The stars are going out. I helped them cannibalize the TARDIS so I could find you but you won't stay still or M'really bad at just missin' you. Donna...I sent Donna back to turn left. There are Dalaks gatherin' people up.

[Ahh, he remembers that. He tries to make a sort of 'oh' face but nods a little and effectively undermines himself. Bit too recent to really make a good go at pretending.]

[Except for the part where she'd almost lost the Doctor and they'd all be nearly sucked into a black hole but hey! he saved the day and there were hugs at the end so really, turned out pretty well as far as Rose was concerned.]
