[Her fingers twine with his and she laughs a little]

[Well not just. She doesn't know about Amy or Rory but she does know about the TARDIS and really it's the him and her part that's significant here.]

[Ohhhh, fingers. Hands. No one else fits in his hands quite like she does. He marvels over the ability to have that feeling for a moment.]

Erm. In the flat. Yeah, just you and me. Really I don't think they're much bigger - not enough for more people by then.

[He's realising the introductions that need to take place later and already considering how to drag things out so they don't happen for another few weeks at least.]

[She's in a strange City that she knows absolutely nothing about, no family, no place to stay and no way of knowing what happens next and yet with her fingers twined in his, she's home and that's all that matters.]

Ought to be able to find one with a couple of bedrooms and a bathroom easy enough. S'all the room we really need.

[It's not that he doesn't agree with her, just that going from so much space down to what feels like almost none is sort of daunting. At least when the TARDIS was here as a box he didn't feel quite as stuck, either.]

Shouldn't be too difficult. Particularly since I'm not sure there's a great many of them. Can't say as I've been paying attention to them though.

[It's different for her. She's spent most of her life land locked. She wouldn't blame him for feeling a bit locked in. She just hopes she can make it more bearable.]

We just pick a building and find one? You want to be high up or on the ground floor?

[I wouldn't doubt she can. It may take him a couple of days to fully realise he already knows that. Also: Blink.] Which one's better?

Normally high up's for views but this is the City and the views are half likely to turn you colours, although ground floor would be consistently boring. Probably. Might flood, which would add a layer of interest.

Lets have a go at the views that turn you colours. Least it won't be boring.

(She pauses in front of one of one of the buildings and tilts her head toward it.) give this one a shot? Looks nice enough.

[He squints up at the top of it, attempting to consider variables in building-picking he both does and doesn't actually fully know of.]

Yeah, it doesn't look too bad. Nice and tallish.

Tallish. [She looks up at him with a smile. Clearly, tallish is a good thing. She leads the way.]

Wonder if there's a lift or just stairs. [Her tone is neutral but curious.]

[She is perfectly allowed to lead the way in this particular instance.]

Much as I do enjoy running, and stairs, I hope there's a lift. Really. Well, I hope there's a lift and stairs. Just to have a choice. I like having choices.

[She feels the same way. And just inside the lobby is a lift along with a sign that claims there are emergency stairs just behind a door.]

Lift and stairs. This is looking up. [She presses the up button on the lift.]

Shall we give the top floor a go?

Yes! Definitely. Penthouse suite accommodations!

[He bounces in the lift, because it's a lift and it's no fun if you don't jump when it stops moving. And then goes out when the doors open to look at... the hallway. There must be one of these uninhabited that he can sonic open so they can look. Or just open, if it's unlocked. Or... knock on, since wood.]

[She can't help but mimic him with the bouncing. It's contagious. She follows right behind him into the hallway and gives it that back and forth glance.]

[It's as good a method as any to picking a door to try.]

Three hundred and twelve. Or seven. And occasionally forty-two, but that's really just for the reference. Why, what's yours?

[His set of numbers puzzles her. There's so much about the Doctor she doesn't know and probably never will.]

Why three hundred and twelve and what's the reference with forty-two?

I'm not actually sure why three hundred and twelve. It just always comes to mind. One off in either direction and you get a happy prime, so it must be a good number anyhow, surrounded by such cheer and all.

[He glances at her.]

Forty-two? The answer to life, the universe, and everything? It's handy every now and then. Kind of remarkable how often it actually is an answer.

[She shakes her head.] Never heard that one before. Guess we ought to find a door with some of these numbers on it.

[She stops in front of one that ends in seven.]

Give it a look see? [And she tries the knob, a delighted smile on her face when she pushes it open.]

[Oh, he swoops in right when she opens the door, poking his head around corners with his hands in and then out and then back in his pockets.]

Doesn't look too bad. Good... height. Needs more stuff though.

[She pokes around in the rooms as well, opens closet, gives the bathroom a skeptical look and opens the curtains in the main room.]

View's nice. Figger we can get more stuff. Fill it up bit by bit, least as long as we're here.

[He nods, attempting to see things with stuff on them like... you do when you're looking at a flat. He can't help but keep comparing it to the TARDIS though.]

Quite square, but then most of your human things tend to be. What do you think?

[She compares it to the TARDIS too, just in a less expectant way. The TARDIS is the exception, not the rule for her. She shrugs and glances around a bit more.]

Squares are easy to make. [The words carry a hint of an apology. Rose Tyler, apologizing for the entire human race's taste in architecture.]

It'll do. We can look about for something more interesting and collect things in the meantime. S'temporary, remember?

[He looks at her and grins a bit in that 'Rose Tyler is the most special human being ever created' sort of way he likes to do.]

They are, yeah. Much easier than circles, though my particular preference is hexagons. Least you lot don't fancy star-shaped things - be a nightmare fitting things in all the corners.

[Ah, temporary, yes. He nods. Hard to remember all this sudden change, and he's not sure how it will right itself, but. Temporary.] Right, yeah.

[Oh she loves that smile. She bounces up on her toes and smiles back at him with that gleeful smile that somehow is only reserved for him.]

We'd have to have things special made for the corners.

[The look on his face and the tone of his voice makes her furrow her brow a bit. She takes a step toward him, her hand sliding into his.]

If we find some place more interesting, I'm coming too.

[The apartment might be temporary and their situation might be temporary but she's not. Sometimes she has to remind him of that.]

Really pointy chaise-lounges and teeny tiny tables, yeah? Maybe a hammock somewhere, for naps. Not that I ever nap.

[He looks down at their hands like he's probably going to keep doing for a while until he gets used to that happening again.]

You'd better. Be much less interesting otherwise.

Forever, yeah? [At least that's what she promised. The City has just given her another chance to keep it. He needn't worry about the staring at their hands thing because for a long while, every time she wakes up, she'll want to find him, to see him, to make sure that he's real and this hasn't been some vivid dream because she's had those dreams before.]

Bet we could string a hammock up right here, cross the windows. It'd be good for swingin' in while we watch the view.

[Clearly she is getting in this hammock with you, Doctor.]
