010 [Accidental Video]

[The video blips on, focusing on Rose lying tangled in the blankets and sheets on her bed. There are tears trickling down her cheeks. The device is obviously sitting on the nightstand next to the bed. She squirms and twists a bit, further entangling herself.]

Regenerate.

[It's said in a voice that's half demand, half plea. The tears come a bit faster now and she mumbles a good deal more in her sleep but most of it is undecipherable. After several seconds of this her tears turn to outright sobs and she sits up abruptly with a sound that is more scream than words but if one had to turn it into a word it would be:]

Noooooooooooooo.

[ooc: Rose has the Doctor's [livejournal.com profile] am_i_being_rude memory of this]

yes Sir

[If she thinks about it, she'll realize why he found them uncomfortable. Of course the fish doesn't have a name! That's half the fun, naming him. She'll suggest Mickey. Of course that means he'll have to take extra care to keep the fish alive then.]

Are you? [She looks up at him as well as she can. The expression on her face hopeful and questioning.]

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-03 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
[He hopes she doesn't go back and replay that memory very often then. If she suggests Mickey he will laugh and then suddenly abscond with the fish to his room for a day or two. Then he'll come out with the fish like nothing happened at all, and if she asks, the fish's name is something she probably doesn't understand initially but will later. He'd name it something that meant something to him ages back. Gallifreyan. And then explain it to her.]

Am I what? [He replies almost instantly but somewhat distractedly, and if she just waits for about two seconds she hears him go] OH. Am I happy? [He looks over at her, slightly cross eyed due to the proximity, and then looks away.] Yeah. Yeah, I'm happy here. [Grin at her.]

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-03 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Hey, she likes that memory. Still've got to decide if they're going to go back to the flat from that so she can prance 'round in the costume or let it drop. She'll like the fish bit, learning more about him and all.

His response gets a very big grin out of her.]
Took us a while to get here but s'definitely worth it.

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-03 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Fish naming will likely be a sort of make-up for not having all his things from the TARDIS and being surrounded by them. As for the thread, either one really is fine with me. We can try going on and if it doesn't really do anything drop it then?

He's probably happy with far more reservations than she is, but there are definitely legitimate perks about being here.]
It did, yeah. Who'd've thought another parallel little pocket of a world would be the thing?

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-03 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[She hadn't thought about that but it's a very good thing and she may have to give him more sorts of little things he can make his own. True. He doesn't have the sort of benefit (?) of having one nonnegotiable condition that makes everything alright the way she does.]

And I sorta sworn parallel anythin' before this.

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-03 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[I need to go find that Gallifreyan con-lang thing again and see what I can do with it for naming; I've sucked at helping with that the last few weeks.] Well, in our defence, up until very recently our track record with parallel words had been a bit horrible. Like, really, terribly, rather-spend-time-with-your-mother horrible.

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-03 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[You've been busy. The comment about Jackie makes Rose smirk a bit. Really she can't argue with him. She adores her Mum but she's better in small doses and really she's particularly hard on the Doctor.]

My opinion on 'em's definitely changin'. [She tilts her head up and presses a kiss to his jawline.]

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
[There are times when Jackie is okay - this regeneration certainly gets on better with her than the former one did - but she is always going to have the undercurrent of being slightly frightening, and it's honestly just more fun to make comments about her than anything else.] Gotta say I'm feeling a bit more positive about them myself. Always been a bit tricky to deal with. Usually the sheer variation and minute differences in history are enough to get you in trouble. Guess knowing everything is completely different from the get-go helps more with that.

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Well for all intents and purposes (though he won't admit to it) she's his mother-in-law. He's not supposed to always get along with her and she is supposed to be frightening.] And that you're not ruinin' anything by bein' here. Nobody's missin' you at home. The world isn't endin'. YOu can just be while you're here.

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Nope. He won't admit to that for aaaaaaaaaages.

He listens to her words and wonders how many of those statements actually apply to him anyway, about having somewhere else to be or people to miss you, home, but does know what she's talking about. He's just reading another layer to her words that even he doubts she knows is there.]
Yeah, s'a bit nice. Being. Takes some getting used to.

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a time he will admit to it?

She would miss him. She did miss him when he was gone and if you ask her, he had a somewhere else to be: with her. He forgets as much as she thinks she belongs in his world, she also thinks he belongs in hers.]

New things always do. Know often I got lost in the TARDIS 'fore I figured out how to get 'round?

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe if he's very, very drunk he'll admit reluctantly that she has to be, since he's all but commonlaw-married to Rose.

He forgets that constantly. And then feels bad about it afterwards, but never enough, apparently, to fix the mindset.

[He grins at the memories.] I remember you needing to be shown where the kitchen was about twelve times that one week. Old girl was having a bit of a joke though, so that wasn't all you.

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
[So in the realm of highly unlikely. Got it. Jackie will love the commonlaw part. That's a lecture in the making. 'What my daughter's not good enough...' yup. Hear it already.

Maybe one of these days he'll at least remember that part.]

Figures she'd have to give me a hard time at first.

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
[God, it's like the maybe-baby thing with Donna. Just can't win with some people.]

Welllll... She's a bit... over-protective, sometimes. Seems to think my companion-screening process can be a bit reckless. She liked you pretty early on though.

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Yup! You expected anything less, Doctor?]

Accordin' to her, she picked me [Yup, that's a grin and yup, they've discussed this.]

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fairly certain she was the reason for that second time I asked. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Wouldn't even try. Nearly zapped my hand off when I went to see if it was a mechanical issue.

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
Knew I liked her from the very beginnin'. She knew sometimes a girl just needs to be asked twice.

[She adores that ship whether it's a box or a woman.]

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-04 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you? Second time changes your opinion that much? Impress upon you the determination and dogged interest of the inquirer?

[There's a fun thought.]

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
[She shifts a little, forearm going to his chest so that she can sit up the slightest bit and look at him. He doesn't get it and he probably never will, how amazing he is and how hard it is to believe that out of all the girls in the world, he wants one particular girl. She can't tell him any of that though. It's too straight forward and violates the three percent rule they seem to have going.]

Bit thick, I am. Took me a bit to realise you needed me and Mickey'd get by just fine.

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
[To a certain degree, he was actually joking, but as with most jokes there was the initial undercurrent of truth in it. He was still not quite expecting her to respond seriously.]

In the long run I think you can probably be forgiven needing about six extra seconds to come to that realisation.

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Good thing she went with the three percent sort of wording rather than all the feelings version.]

Very kind of you, Doctor. Good thing I learned to catch up and not need those six seconds.

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
[He's almost annoyingly easily overwhelmed when it comes to her very nearly on a constant level. If he bothered to think about it, he'd blame it entirely on her being naturally such a vibrant and explosive force when at a normal level. Escalating beyond that is just too bright to look at directly.]

Always were a quick study.

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
[She's not sure whether that's a good thing or not. She can't really do anything to be less overwhelming though. It'd be like being less 'Rose']

Ought to put that on my resume. 'Quick Study' Fluent in 'Time Lord'. Not sure there's loads of jobs that need that sorta qualifications though.

[identity profile] am-i-being-rude.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
[It's a good thing. It's a very good thing. It just means that he's sort of messing with the sun whenever they start to move their relationship forward, which makes it a little difficult for him to handle properly. He wouldn't have her act any other way though. It's something he needs to get used to, not that she needs to chance.]

I'm thinking really just this one, given the approximate levels of Time Lord population in various places throughout the universe.

[identity profile] iam-thebadwolf.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He'll have plenty of time to get used to it then.]

Yeah, think you're right. [Which gets him a grin and she settles again to put her head on his chest.] Guess I ought to keep it then. Benefits are nice. 'Least there's that.
