[She should hate it, yeah, and he should as well, having done so poorly with forced settlement before, but at the same time he definitely understands what she's talking about. All things considered, it's not really that bad a place to be. And she's trembling and crying and he really wants to hug her but there's still uncertainty for several reasons, so mostly he keeps moving his hands - pockets, arms crossed, scratching his face, repeat.]

I don't altogether see much reason to leave, myself. More reason not to than anything.
